After turning 39 and being crowned Belgian league champion for the 11th consecutive year, Dusan Djordjevic has committed himself to Filou Oostende for another season, the team announced on Saturday.
The Serbian point guard joined the Belgian team in 2011 and has been part of their 11-year run at the top of the domestic league, as well as captaining the team. Competing in the Basketball Champions League since the inaugural 2016-17 season, he has dished out 358 assists in the competition, which ranks first on the all-time list, seven ahead of second-placed Marcelo Huertas.
In 2021-22, he averaged 5.8 points, 4.1 assists and 2.0 rebounds as Oostende reached the round of 16 for the second time and finished third in Group K behind U-BT Cluj-Napoca and Unicaja. Dario Gjergja’s team had secured a place in the Play-In round by finishing third in regular season Group F and overcame Igokea m:tel in three games to extend the season to the Round of 16.
In the inaugural season of the betFirst BNXT League, Djordjevic produced 5.1 points, 4.1 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game in 29 appearances. His team retained champion status in Belgium by knocking out Kangoeroes Mechelen 3-1 in the final.
