During the first month of work, the Ukrainian Legion in Poland received more than 500 applications

A recruitment center in Lublin, Poland, collected more than 500 applications to join the Ukrainian Legion within a month of operation. Candidates include people from the UK, USA and 28 other countries.

Details: As representatives of the recruitment center, which has been operating since the beginning of October at the Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin, told the group, in the month of operation more than 500 applications were received from Ukrainian citizens who live in 30 countries.

The employees of the center believe that this is a good result, noting that this is only the beginning of their work.

A representative of the center, which is responsible for moral and psychological training and conducts direct interviews with candidates for the legion, noted that most applications come from Ukrainians and Ukrainian women who living in Poland and the Czech Republic.

At the same time, he said, there are applications from remote areas – Britain, Ireland, Canada and the USA.

He confirmed: 90% of applications were received from men, 10% from women. By age – about half of the requests were received from young people under 25 years of age.

“If we talk about military specialties, young people are more likely to want to join attack units later or become UAV operators. Older people tend to be in positions close to their specialties in civilian life, for example, in material support units,” noted a representative of the center.

Also, according to the representative, applications are submitted by different people: from students who are ready to take academic leave for a period of military service, to elderly people who worked abroad, for example, as construction or truck drivers.

Women are usually interested in medical specialty.

“But there are also those who were interested in sniper specialization,” said an employee of the center, adding that there is no restriction on the choice of military specialization.

• On October 2, the head of the Polish Ministry of National Defense, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh, said that the number of Ukrainians who volunteered for the Ukrainian Legion in Poland it turned out to be very small.
• At the end of the month, the Polish Charge d’Affaires in Ukraine, Piotr Łukasiewicz, said that the country was ready to train Ukrainian workers, but first Ukraine needs to gather enough people.
