During the festival, the open-air museum has created an e-fair – in Latvia

39% of Latvians have never met this year and are unlikely to meet their relatives at Christmas, according to a survey.

The majority of the population (71%) therefore feels upset, but one in three said that a gift of surprise from their peers would help to create a sense of celebration. By inviting people to please their loved ones in Latvia and abroad, the open-air museum’s e-fair launches a campaign “With love”, which offers to send already wrapped gifts immediately to the recipient.

The majority (71%) of those Latvians who have not had the opportunity to meet their relatives this year are depressed by this fact, they feel lonely and even angry. Seniors most often did not meet their relatives (41%), which could be explained by the fact that people are one of the highest risk groups in Covid-19. As a result, family members now choose not to meet with seniors for fear of the virus.

“This year the holiday will definitely be different than we are used to, but we still have the opportunity to preserve such a beloved Christmas tradition – our nearest gift. 37% of respondents have indicated that they would be happy to receive a surprise gift, because this is the way we can take care of each other and show love this year. Therefore, in cooperation with the participants of the open-air museum e-fair, we are launching a Christmas campaign “With love”, in which egadatirgus.lv can buy already wrapped gifts, which will be sent directly to the recipient. By purchasing gifts at the virtual fair, it is possible to delight your loved ones and at the same time support local craftsmen and home producers, ”says Kerli Gabrilovica, Head of Luminor Bank in Latvia.

Almost half of the respondents (47%) agree that during the pandemic constraints it is more difficult to maintain relationships with peers, because people in general have become more negative, more irritable and less sensitive. However, despite new and tighter restrictions, one-fifth of the population is looking for ways to continue to show concern, empathy and offer help.

To facilitate the care of gifts, in the campaign “With love” they can be selected on the platform of local craftsmen www.egadatirgus.lv. Merchants will wrap the gift neatly, add a personalized card and deliver it directly to the recipient via DPD, the project’s big friend. Merchants who offer to buy an already wrapped gift are marked on the website with the identification mark “With love”.

The open-air museum’s e-fair has already brought together more than 220 craftsmen and home producers from all over Latvia, offering both traditional and modern creations. The website offers more than 2,500 items in various categories, such as textiles, jewelry, food and beverages. In the first three months of operation, more than 46 thousand people have visited egadatirgus.lv.
