During the elections, the police are strengthening their forces

The Commissioner General of Police met with the Chairperson of the Chief Election Commission and representatives of the White Gloves. At the meeting, joint work before and during the elections was discussed, available information was exchanged, and other topical issues related to the upcoming elections were discussed.

The police started preparing for the elections in advance, allocated reinforced forces for this purpose and have already received them until today 33 messages, related to elections. Almost half of them (14) are in Vilnius county. Start 4 pre-trial investigations (in the counties of Vilnius, Utena and Alytus) according to Article 172 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. (obstructing the exercise of the right to an election or referendum – offers to take a ride and/or pay if you vote for a specific candidate). It was agreed that in case of necessity and threats to the safety of persons or documents, the police is ready to accompany the commissions with documents to the districts.

The main work of the police before the election is information gathering (including criminal intelligence) and threat analysis. Officials monitor public space, assess all information related to the elections. Officials met with the chairmen of the electoral districts and precincts of the reserve pre-trial investigation team for working with special incidents. Preventive work was carried out with the most sensitive groups of society (nursing homes, medical institutions, other care and welfare institutions, etc.), training was conducted for officers of police institutions responsible for work organization.

Election Day reinforced police forces (uniformed and non-uniformed officers) will also work, special attention will be paid to electoral districts and neighborhoods, territories near them, constant communication with the chairman of the commissions will be maintained.

The police ask people to be proactive and report possible violations immediately to law enforcement or the CEC.
