During a television interview, a truck driver reported sitting on Linzer climate adhesive.

There were curious scenes that took place on Tuesday morning in Linz’s Waldeggstrasse: As reported, a truck driver who was stuck in a traffic jam because of a blockade action by the “last generation” lost his patience.

Anger video goes viral

The man got out of his heavy vehicle and first tried to pull a climate activist who had stuck his hand on the protective path off the road. When he didn’t succeed, he sat down on the young man without further ado – and then, sitting on the most active man, answered the questions of a hurrying journalist of the News-Senders Puls24.

The short video clip of the anger interview is now spreading rapidly on social media and was alone on tik tok clicked more than four million times. Several German media also reported on the incident in the state capital. But what did the angry chauffeur say to the TV reporters?

“Don’t they have life?”

“That’s not normal,” the truck driver railed into the camera. It is not the first time that his work has been hampered by climate adhesives. The day before he was stuck in a traffic jam in Klagenfurt due to a similar action and could not have driven home.

And even today, the protest messes up his plan – he was supposed to deliver office furniture for the new LASK stadium on the Gugl – the client has to wait. “What else do they do? Don’t they have work, don’t they have a life, don’t they enjoy life?” the man vents his anger at the climate activists – and finally asks the TV reporter whether he has glue with him because he wants himself stuck to the activist.

Fierce discussions

Between expressions of sympathy and sharp criticism: The behavior of the man who works for a transport company in the Linz-Land district is hotly debated on social media. The employer himself did not comment on the incident when asked by OÖN. How do you feel about the climate protests? You can vote here:

“We understand the anger”

The “last generation” had shown understanding in an initial reaction. “We understand the anger of the people who are prevented from driving by us,” it said in a Twitter post on Tuesday.

Basically, they are satisfied with the protest actions, activist Jelena Saf told OÖN on Tuesday. She would have noticed that people in traffic started to discuss the necessity of the protests with each other. “I was happy about that,” because solidarity was also visible here.
