It’s been just over two weeks since Armand Duplantis soared over 6.25 meters and staged a magical night on the Olympic world record at the Stade de France in Paris.
Now the Swedish star has recharged his batteries after the Olympic gold and is ready to compete again, this time by Lake Geneva in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The pole vaulters are the only ones competing on Wednesday night, while other Diamond League events are decided within the athletics field on Thursday night.
– I like that it is scenic, fun, more like a show. It suits us well. I jumped 6.10 in Lausanne last time and I feel exhausted after Paris, says Duplantis.
After his Olympic success, he and his girlfriend Desiré went on holiday for a few days in Greece, before heading to Sweden to celebrate at the beginning of last week.
Opponents in Lausanne include Olympic silver medalist Sam Kendricks of the USA, as well as French pole vaulting legend and former world record holder Renaud Lavillenie.
