The financial officers found four dachshund-type puppies in the passenger compartment of a car transported on a trailer. During the inspection, it turned out that the driver did not have any documents for the barely six-week-old animals. The Romanian man was on his way to Italy with the small goods.
The uniformed officers notified the official veterinarian of the government office, who determined that the puppies had no vaccinations, microchips, and pet passports, and they could not be transported due to the lack of documents and their young age.
The driver continued to travel alone, and the confiscated items were taken in by a domestic foundation.
NAV’s activities are related to animal protection at several points, in 2022 it was the 150th signatory to the Animal Protection Code.
In 2023, the financial officers of the NAV Deployment Directorate foiled the illegal trade of 36 puppies in western Hungary. In the past year, NAV patrols have also found horses, pine woodpeckers, tengelic birds and cats while on duty.
