After a decline in Hollywood cinema revenues during the fall and winter seasons, the first showings of the second part of the movie “Dune: Part 2”, produced by Warner Brothers, will begin in a few days, with advance reservations amounting to $175 million.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film’s makers are very happy, especially after the saving revenues for the Hollywood market achieved by the film’s premieres outside the United States last week.
“Warner Brothers”, the producing company, and “Legendary”, the distributor, expect that the domestic opening revenues will exceed $65 million (in the United States of America only), due to advance reservations for tickets for the film, with the possibility of it becoming 80 million, especially after it received 97% of the audience. Critics’ rating.
Sources explained to the same newspaper that the film, directed by French director Denis Villeneuve, grossed $85 million on its first opening day when it was released in 71 global markets, but China, Japan, and some Latin American countries were not included due to the delay in timing.
The continued revenues beyond the opening weekend will be a real test of the film’s success or not, after its first part, released in 2021, achieved more than $402 million at the box office around the world in light of the Corona crisis.
The film was supposed to be released in 2023, but it was postponed to 2024 due to the Hollywood Actors Guild strike.
