Despite the two failed performances by Mia Nicolai and Dion Cooper, Duncan Laurence has every confidence in a good outcome. The singer who brought the Eurovision duo together says in his Instagram Stories that the team is rehearsing hard.
Laurence says in the video that rehearsals went “super well” today. He does agree that “a number of things have happened” in recent weeks. He probably refers to the performances in Madrid and Amsterdam, where the duo performed the Songestival number Burning Daylight couldn’t bring it clean live.
“We are very aware of this. We will do our utmost to manage this all in the right direction, so that Mia and Dion will be on stage as relaxed as possible and can shine“, said the singer who wrote along Burning Daylight.
“It just remains an intense trajectory that they are in. I know better than anyone how tough it can be,” he refers to his own participation in 2019. “But I have so much faith in Dion and Mia. It will be all right soon in Liverpool and we are really looking forward to it.”
The duo performed in AFAS Live last weekend during Eurovision in Concert. They were again criticized because the performance was not pure. This also happened earlier during a promotional concert in Madrid. At that time, the disappointing performance was still attributed to technical problems.
