If we had to list the cities, settlements, welcoming and charming little villages of the Danube Bend – would Dunakeszi come to mind? However, this city also holds countless surprises due to its geographical location and historical past, not to mention the developments that have taken place in recent years, the aim of which is that both those who live here and those who come here can spend their time usefully. It’s time for one of the most populous cities in the agglomeration to be put on the map of travel destinations!
Let’s discover Dunakeszi, or a program recommendation for a summer day
I chose a program during which small children have just as much fun as adults, and during which even teenagers who stick their tongues at everything can’t say that they don’t like it, since we use a phone app to look around the city!
As a first step, download the free Actionbound app for your phone, then enter Dunakeszi in the “Find a tour” section. and the phone application also offers you seven different programs. It’s worth seeing these too, on cooler days “walking through” them is also a great family and friendly program.
Now, however, choose the walk along the Danube! This is not a circular tour, i.e. you did not return to the starting point at the end, which should be taken into account if you arrived by car.
The walk next to the Csurgó restaurant, so-called It starts from Kischurgó and ends at Katonadomb. During the tour, you will walk about 3 kilometers along the Danube bank under the guidance of the app. Each stop includes some information about the given place, interesting facts, all of which have something to do with the history of Dunakeszi.
It will be really fun as the children search for the next station, as they count the meters traveled and find the answers to the puzzles in the application. Especially if you offer ice cream, ice cream, hamburgers or ice porridge at the end of the walk for the 100% solution!
You can see the monumental wrought-iron gate of the old beach, you can walk through the former swampy area under the shady trees, you can learn about the history of the ancient fortress, you can find out what used to be in the Part Café building, why and what makes the water of the Danube clean for drinking, you can rest on the wooden trunk chairs, and You will also gain a lot of information about forest birds on the Bird Watching Educational Trail located after the beach.
Even with a small child, the three-kilometer walk can take a maximum of one and a half hours. If you’re not tired yet, head to the Katonadomb playground, but turning back from the bird trail, you can relax in the cooling water of the Danube (because now you know how clean it is, right?) on the beautifully designed public beach, where Naszály towering above Vác view and the small yachts resting on the Danube make the day unforgettable.
