“I’m very disappointed. I just did it again. I felt good in that training as well and it occurred to me that I could have a good racing month now,” lamented the statement of the Jumbo-Visma Dumoulin team, who missed the first half of the year because he was not happy with cycling.
After returning in June, he won the Dutch time trial title for the fourth time and defended the silver from Rio de Janeiro in this discipline in Tokyo, when he was not enough for the Slovenian Primož Roglič. He last started on the Binck Banck Tour, where he finished ninth overall last week. At the end of September, he was to be one of the favorites of the time trial at the World Championships, from which he has a complete set of medals.
