Dulce María Sauri regrets TEPJF ruling in favor of ‘Alito’

Mexico City. After the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF) endorsed the statutory reforms of the PRI that allowed the re-election of Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas as leader of the party, Dulce María Sauri, former president of this political force, maintained that “unfortunately the rule of law is very devalued in our country,” and noted that “the PRI comes out of this damaged, very damaged.”

Sauri Riancho, who was one of the promoters of the resources with which they sought to annul the National Assembly of the tricolor that gave rise to the re-election of Alito Moreno, expressed: “I am sorry for my party, personally it hurts me but I am left with the tranquility of having done everything in my power to get the PRI out of this trance”, and considered that canceling the statutory reforms was the only way in which the tricolor could participate in the construction of partisan oppositions.

“For me, what follows is entering a state of partisan hibernation. I am not resigning because I do not have the energy or spirit to leave the party to which I have been committed,” added the former governor of Yucatán.

Meanwhile, Fernando Lerdo de Tejada, leader of the current PRI platform, said he was disappointed with the resolution taken this afternoon by the Superior Court of the TEPJF, with the vote of three judges against two.

“It is noticeable that there are magistrates who act by nothing more, but they are sorry, because they could not argue,” said the PRI member.

With the possibility that Moreno Cárdenas’ leadership could last up to 12 years, he warned that “the PRI is going to collapse. I predict a very dark future for you.”

The former deputy pointed out that “a time of reflection is coming, I am going to talk about it with the current that I represent, which is the Platform, but I am deeply disappointed in the sell-out way in which these three magistrates were able to act.”

When referring to the recent constitutional reform of the Judicial Branch of the Federation, he said that the three magistrates who ratified the internal documents of the PRI are the first to leave, but “it is a shame that they are not going to remove them and elect their substitutes on next year, but until 2027.”
