Sterling aims to shatter Tuchel’s plans
Sterling’s ultimate goal for this new contract is to drill Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the Blues first team.
It is accepted that a club loan must be given priority, but the youngster has impressed so far in the preseason.
He spent the end of last season injured but had two stints away from Chelsea earlier in his career.
Sterling spent the 2018/19 season with Coventry City, making 38 appearances as the Sky Blues finished eighth in League One.
He was then at Wigan Athletic the following season, making eight appearances as the Latics were relegated from the championship due to a points deduction.
Sky reports that the player and the club are confident that a new deal can be made and that Chelsea see a future for Sterling at the club.
The Blues have moved a few young players into this transfer window, the most recent being Tino Livramento’s move to Southampton.
Dynel Simeu, Myles Peart-Harris and Pierre Ekwah Elimby have also left the club, respectively for Southampton, Brentford and West Ham United, but Sterling is not part of the squad the Blues are looking to play.
