Duisburg Zoo has lost a red panda | Abroad

Jang, as the panda is called, has been sought since Thursday morning. The zoo assumes that the little panda, about 50 centimeters tall and 5 kilos heavy, is hidden somewhere in one of the treetops in the park. The employees have no idea how the animal was able to leave its enclosed property.

The zoo assures that Jang is harmless. If people see him nearby, they should call the police and not try to catch the animal themselves.

Red pandas are found in the wild only in the mountain forests of China. Like giant pandas, they mainly eat bamboo. Only a few thousand of the endangered species remain in the wild.
