Legendary golfer, Tiger Woods, had a single accident last February. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department revealed the Tiger Woods accident was due to breaking the safe speed limit while driving the Hyundai Genesis GV80.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the professional golfer is going about 85 miles per hour (136.7 kilometers per hour) in a zone where the speed limit is only 45 mph (72.4 kph).
“The main cause of the collision was driving at a speed that is not safe for road conditions, and the inability to get past a highway bend. The estimated speed in the area of first impact was 84 to 87 miles per hour (135.1 and 140 kilometers per hour),” said LA Sheriff Alex Villanueva in his press statement today, Thursday (8/4/2021) as quoted from Autoevolutin.
Police said Woods was very cooperative throughout the investigation process. As is known Tiger Woods managed to survive the fatal accident, but he had to be rushed to the hospital because he suffered a serious leg injury. The golfer is said to have lost control of his car.
Luckily Tiger Woods managed to survive the incident thanks to the use of a seat belt while driving.
For information, the Hyundai Genesis GV80 2021 has a starting price of USD 50,000, equivalent to IDR 700 million on the market. This car has three variants with an engine capacity of 2.5 liter I4 RWD, then there is also a capacity of 2.5 I4 AWD and 3.5 liter V6 AWD.

Lomita Station, Captain James said that Tiger Woods does not remember how the 45 year old golfer lost control.
So far, the authorities say that Woods was crossing the highway with curvy contours and descending a hill. Losing control, the luxury SUV veered across the opposite lane, hit a road sign and rolled over several times, wrecking his car.
Reports indicate that there is no sign of slippage indicating the driver slammed on the brakes or attempted to turn.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said there was no indication Woods was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Woods stated that he was conscious when the incident occurred.
Jonathan Cherney, a former detective and current accident reconstruction expert who walked the scene after the crash, told USA Today that evidence showed the driver was asleep at the wheel.
“For me, it’s like a classic (accident) case of falling asleep at the wheel, because the road turns and the vehicle stays straight,” said Jonathan Cherney.
