A recent study in the journal Nature Medicine revealed that a person is at risk of developing cardiovascular disease 30 days after being infected by the Corona virus.
The report found that people with COVID-19 have the potential to develop 20 different heart and blood vessel diseases, including heart failure, pericarditis, myocarditis, stroke, cerebrovascular disorders, and dysrhythmias.
“There are 20 diagnosed heart problems for patients with long-haul COVID. The most common are shortness of breath and fatigue,” said Dr Evelina Grayver, MD, director of the women’s heart health program at Northwell Health in New York. Fox NewsSunday (6/3/2022).
For COVID-19 patients who were not hospitalized, they were found to experience more cardiovascular disease than people who were not infected with the Corona virus.
The researchers tried to analyze the health records of more than 11 million US veterans. As a result, veterans who had been infected with COVID-19 in the previous year had 20 different risks of heart and blood vessel disease compared to those who were not infected.
In addition, Dr Grayver also said that many patients suffer from the cardiovascular effects of long-standing COVID-19 such as myocarditis, so they are afraid to exercise. In fact, according to Grayver, exercise can play an important role in recovery.
“When patients are able to start their exercise regimen in a controlled environment, where they are closely monitored in terms of EKG, blood pressure and heart rate, they feel much more comfortable and safer to continue their exercise outside the heart rehabilitation center,” said Grayver.
