Chronic disease is no longer a threat only to the elderly. The doctor said that even young people are prone to chronic diseases.

SuaraJawaTengah.id – Chronic disease is no longer a threat to the elderly only. The doctor said that even a young age is prone to attack disease chronic.

Doctor of Personal Medical Management Medix dr. Mona Jamtani said that in Indonesia, cases of chronic disease have continued to increase.

Later, chronic diseases not only attack in old age but can also attack at a relatively young age.

He said, looking healthy from the outside, it is not a guarantee that someone is free from the threat of chronic disease. Social environmental conditions with high levels of stress, lifestyle, and unhealthy eating patterns can increase the threat of chronic disease among young people.

“Those (young people) who should have been productive now could suddenly be attacked by chronic diseases, such as stroke, heart, kidney, and cancer, and they could also cause death,” said dr. Mona in his virtual statement, Tuesday (15/12/2020).

“Now look, for example, there are coronary heart patients who are only 38. There are also those who have cancer, such as cervical cancer, breast cancer, and lung cancer as well as young people,” he continued.

Likewise with diabetes mellitus, which can cause complications to progress to coronary heart disease, stroke, and chronic kidney failure.

He added that the disease does not recognize economic caste, age range, or background.

“The more you come here, the patients are getting younger. Non-communicable diseases are thought to only be experienced by middle to upper class people, even though it is also experienced by the middle to lower class and the working class, ”he explained.

Therefore, he urged in addition to preparing health protection, especially for young people and generally for the community to have a healthy lifestyle such as regulating food intake, avoiding unhealthy habits such as smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages.
