Domestic operators make no secret of the fact that they want to massively expand 5G networks in the Czech Republic this year and in the coming years. After all, several domestic cities are already at least partially covered by fifth-generation networks.
–
Due to the spread of the 5G signal, 3G transmitters have even started to be switched off in the Czech Republic. Just for comparison, in third generation mobile networks the internet reaches a speed of 10 Mbps, in the case of 5G it is up to 1000 Mbps.
–
So it is clear that 5G-enabled phones are the future. Manufacturers are constantly trying to reduce their price. At the beginning of last year, 5G was the prerogative of only those premium smartphones, but before Christmas we could already buy models with a price tag of less than ten thousand crowns in stores – ie devices of the upper middle class.

And now, for the first time ever, the price has fallen below the magical threshold of five thousand crowns. With the Realme 8 5G smartphone, we can find a price tag of CZK 5,490 in stores, but practically all large retailers offer an additional CZK 500 discount on the device. It is possible to get this phone for basically CZK 4,990.
–
Despite the lower price tag, the equipment of the phone is not bad at all, on the contrary. It offers a fast 90Hz display with a diagonal of 6.5 inches and a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, which occupies virtually the entire front. The gut hides an eight-core MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor clocked at up to 2.2 GHz, which is complemented by 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The support of memory cards was not forgotten either.
–
The phone has four lenses on the back: a main camera with a resolution of 48 Mpx (f / 1.8), a 2Mpx macro lens and a 2Mpx portrait assistant and a ToF sensor for measuring the depth of field. In front is a selfie camera with a resolution of 16Mpx (f / 2.1). The internal battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh and offers support for fast 18W charging. A memory card reader is a matter of course.
–
Xiaomi also responded to the arrival of the Realme 8 5G. Its Redmi Note 9T model, which has been on sale since the beginning of this year and which also attracts 5G connectivity, has become significantly cheaper, so it is possible to buy it in stores instead of the original CZK 6,990 for CZK 4,990.
–
For this amount, the manufacturer offers more storage (128 GB) than the Realme 8 5G has, as well as a slightly faster processor. The eight-core MediaTek Dimensity 800U chip can work at a clock speed of 2.4 GHz.

In other parameters, the model from Xiaomi is very similar to its competitor. The capacity of the operational memory is 4 GB, on the back there are three lenses: the main camera with a resolution of 48 Mpx (f / 1.8), a 2Mpx macro lens and a 2Mpx portrait assistant. The front selfie camera has a resolution of 13 MPx.
–
The battery offers a capacity of 5000 mAh and supports fast 18W charging. The 6.53-inch display offers a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, but only a 60Hz refresh rate.
–
From the lines above, it is clear that the manufacturers are fighting together for the most affordable mobile phone with 5G connectivity. This is definitely a good thing, as it will ultimately benefit the users themselves.

Revolution named 5G
5G will change everything – and it will be a much more dramatic change than the ones we associate with the advent of wireless technology. The 5G standard will not only be used to connect computers and mobile phones to the Internet. It will also be used by smart devices, which are gradually settling in domestic households.
The new generation of mobile internet will find application, for example, in transport, virtual reality, sports, but also in the field of health.
Likewise, smart washing machines and refrigerators will be connected to 5G networks, but also, for example, autonomous cars – a fast and stable Internet connection on the road is key to their development.
While 5G may only seem like another mobile standard, in reality its benefits will be far greater. According to Ericsson studies, the fifth generation of mobile networks will make high-speed Internet accessible to up to a billion people and devices. What’s more, it will allow the expansion of modern technology.
