The German automotive group Daimler announced on Friday that from next week, several plants in Germany and Hungary will significantly reduce production, taking into account the global semiconductor deficit.
The company says production in several factories will be completely or partially suspended next week. Production at the Bremen plant and, in part, at the Sindelfingen plant has already been suspended.
Daimler did not provide specific information on the number of employees affected by the reduction in production.
Due to a semiconductor shortage at the company’s three German plants, production has been suspended several times in recent months.
The program, developed by the German government, allows companies to send their employees home and reduce their pay without the need to lay them off. This program was widely used by companies in Germany during the coronavirus pandemic.
