Due to the more sticky delta variant of Covid-19, restrictions are being tightened again in several countries around the world, such as South Korea, Indonesia and Australia. Russia recorded the highest number of Covid-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic. Stricter restrictions are now also in place in Spain and the Netherlands.
Only two weeks after the Netherlands lifted almost all restrictions on Covid-19, including allowing nightclubs to open, the restrictions were partially lifted on 10 July. The number of new Covid-19 cases has increased sixfold in a week, due to the spread of the most contagious delta variant of the coronavirus
Under the new restrictions, all nightclubs are closed again. Restaurants and bars will be able to continue to receive visitors, but only until midnight, and the distance must be observed – one and a half meters. Events such as live music concerts are prohibited at the property. The strictest rules will apply at least until 13 August.
The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rite, emphasized: “It is clear that we need to curb the rapid spread of the virus. That is why we had to decide to step up the measures [..] with the aim of curbing the virus while continuing to protect the vulnerable. At the same time, we must try to do as little damage as possible to our economy and society. It’s not pleasant, but it’s necessary. “
Partial reinstatement is also being judged in Spain, which has also faced a rapid spread of the virus. In the region of Catalonia, nightclubs with no outdoor space for visitors will be banned from Friday 9 July. The rest of the visitors have a quick Covid-19 test before entering the club.
“It simply came to our notice then. As for the controls, they are strict and that is good. I think it’s good that they’re taking coronavirus tests, “said student Sancho Garrido, who tested positive and was denied entry to the club.
As in the Netherlands, the incidence of young, unvaccinated young people is increasing in Spain. Although Spain as a whole has one of the highest vaccination rates in Europe, so far the focus has been on priority groups, the elderly. But in the age group of 20-29 years, only every tenth received pots.
