Due to Covid crisis, loan application grows 70%

Up to 70% increased the attention of cases for personal and family loans in the Mediation Directorate of the municipality of Querétaro, compared to the first four months of 2020, the foregoing derived from the economic impact suffered by citizens due to the health contingency caused by Covid-19, said the head of the area, Marco Colín Molina.

He specified that this year the 134 people; while, during the first four months of last year there were only 79 attentions for this case.

“We observed that there was a reduction in the income of families and it impacted on the fulfillment of economic commitments (…) The pandemic significantly affected the resolution of some type of debt and in that sense the Mediation Directorate participated in the dialogue exercise to resolve the type of controversies ”, explained the municipal official.

He assured that of all the mediations that are carried out, in 90% generate a scheme for the return of the resource appropriately by both parties; The first step is that the debtor recognizes it and, according to his capacity, the commitment to pay the debt is granted in times and amounts accepted by the affected party.

He emphasized that the effectiveness is high and that during the most restrictive season of the contingency was when this type of situation arose the most.

Colín Molina even said that a couple of financial entities have approached the management to resolve some cases.

“We had a couple of mediations that were brought to the table and when we observed that it was an established body, we asked to generate a formal approach and we are in talks to do so,” he commented.

In general, he indicated, there was an increase in attention to people during the first four months of 2021 of 36%, since from January to April of last year it served 3 thousand 462 people and the first four months of 2021 were 4 thousand 724 the citizens who approached the Mediation Directorate.

Regarding community mediation issues, he said, there was an increase of 59%. In 2020, 1,627 people were served and in 2021 2,600 were served.

Another of the attentions where an increase was registered is in what has to do with neighborhood coexistence, in terms of noise, pets, parking, last year 151 people were attended for family issues and in this first four months, 216.

On the subject of leases there were 62 visits in the first four months of 2020 and in 2021 there are only 68, which represents an increase of 9%; Before the pandemic it was 60%, for residential rental and 40% commercial.

He added that mediations for traffic events did not show a relevant increase, last year 1,49 people were attended and this year 1,888.

“Any type of situation in which a space can be offered and there is a full will to carry out batch agreements, personal or family loans, we are open to participate with them,” he said.
