Due to Covid-19, the Riga Russian Theater is suspended

According to the statement, one theater employee who has not been in direct contact with the audience has a positive diagnosis. At present, the theater has been suspended until October 30, inclusive, in order to await the results of the epidemiological investigation and determine the next steps.

Performances from October 28 to 30 have been canceled. Tickets can be exchanged or handed over in accordance with the established procedure until November 5 (tickets for performances postponed from spring – until December 10).

It has already been reported that the New Riga Theater (JRT) was shut down for two weeks due to a Covid-19 infection. Currently, the theater has resumed playing performances. Until November 1, the Latvian National Opera and Ballet has also ceased public activities. The new virus has also affected other artistic groups – due to the infection, the singers of both the Latvian Radio Choir and the State Academic Choir “Latvija” are in self-isolation.
