Due to a rude e-mail, ESPN has suspended cooperation with the well-known basketball journalist Eidrien Vodzhnarovskis, the North American media reports.
The incident followed US Senator Josh Hevley in an open letter to National Basketball Association (NBA) Commissioner Edam Silver criticizing the league’s relationship with China and calling for slogans in support of police, the army and Hong Kong protesters to be allowed on shirts in the end-of-season tournament.
The letter was also sent in the form of a press release, to which Vodzhnarovsky responded succinctly with two words – “Go [cenzēts]Hevley then published a screenshot of the letter, but Vodnarovsky apologized for his rudeness.
“My actions were unworthy and I made a pathetic mistake. I apologize for the way I behaved and immediately contacted Senator Helvia to apologize to him. I also want to apologize to my ESPN colleagues because I am aware that my actions are unacceptable and should not affect them, “Vodnararovsky said on Friday.
ESPN described what Wodzhnarovsky wrote in his letter as completely unacceptable behavior. The New York Post reports that Vodnararovsky has been suspended indefinitely without being paid. For this reason, Vodzhnarovsk’s departure to Orlando, from where he was scheduled to cover the end of the season, was postponed.
Vodzhnarovsky has gained recognition as a reliable, prompt and accurate observer, who is often the first to report on NBA transactions and behind the scenes. He worked for Yahoo! Sports from 2007 to 2017, and has been an ESPN journalist for the past three years.
