Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Chairman of Commission I of the DPR Meutya Hafid revealed that the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) Gen Sitting Abdurachman withdraw the adjutant or security assistance given to members of the DPR from the NasDem faction Hillary Brigitta Lasut.
According to him, the withdrawal was carried out to see the urgency of giving the aide or security assistance
“Already [bicara dengan KSAD], the Army Chief of Staff conveyed that the temporary security was withdrawn to study the urgency,” said Meutya in the statement received CNNIndonesia.com, Friday (3/12).
He did not specify whether the Army Chief of Staff had officially approved the request for a TNI aide from Hillary or not.
Meutya continued that the request for aide that was sent by Hillary to Dudung was carried out without the knowledge of Commission I of the DPR. According to him, the head of the commission and the heads of the faction group (Kapoksi) should know the special requests of the members.
“The members of the DPR do not only represent themselves, they also represent the electoral districts, commissions and factions,” said the Golkar Party politician.
Meutya also admitted that she never had a special adjutant or bodyguard during her time as a member and leader of Commission I of the DPR. Even if there were, according to him, it was only ASN who worked in Commission I of the DPR.
“I don’t have a special aide, even if there is someone who accompanies me in official commission events, they are the official protocol of Commission I, civil servants. Until now, as Chair of the Commission, I still think it’s enough,” said Meutya.
Reported from detikcom, KSAD General Dudung Abdurachman is believed to have complied with the request of the youngest member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Hillary Brigitta Lasut, to secure TNI security. Hillary’s request was met with the publication of an ordinary (non-secret) classified Telegram letter, which was addressed to the Kostrad Commander and the Danjen Kopassus.
The Telegram letter was numbered ST/3274/2021 dated November 25, 2021. Head of the NasDem Faction Ahmad Ali confirmed the telegram letter.
The letter was signed by Assistant KSAD Personnel Major General Wawan, and copied to the KSAD, Deputy KSAD, Inspector General of the Army, Aspers Commander of the TNI, Asintel and KSAD.
In the Telegram letter, it was stated that Hillary had sent a letter on November 3, 2021, regarding an application for the assignment of members of the TNI to become personal aides.
It was also written in the telegram that the request for a personal aide from Hillary, the TNI Commander Regulation Number 47 of 2018 and the Army Chief of Staff Regulation Number 35 of 2018 were used as the basis for selecting Hillary’s aide candidates.
The letter stated that there was a request to send 1 non-commissioned officer to be selected for the assignment as Hillary’s personal aide.
The letter described 7 requirements for Hillary’s personal aide candidates, one of which was the rank of Sertu with the age of 24-27 years. Another requirement is that they have never been married, have high motivation and initiative, are responsive and agile, are physically and mentally healthy, and are not currently undergoing a legal process.
There has been no statement from the Indonesian Army regarding this matter.
Hillary herself had previously apologized if her intention to ask for aides and security assistance by writing to Dudung was considered unethical. He admitted that he asked for assistance in securing the TNI AD because he planned to advocate for a case in North Sulawesi (Sulut).
“I apologize if my intention is considered unethical. The learning process,” said Hillary through her Instagram account, @hillarybrigitta, Thursday (2/12).
