St NATO members can assure Russia they will not treat it the same way Moscow treats Ukraine, Polish President Andrzej Duda said today at a joint news conference in Berlin with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Reuters reported. quoted by BTA.
In response to a reporter’s question about French President Emmanuel Macron’s idea of giving Russia security guarantees,
Duda said: “What we, as honest people, politicians, NATO members, are able to guarantee to Russia is that no one will do to Russia what it does to its neighbors.”
Poland and Germany should ask for more help from the European Union,
to deal with the expected increase in the number of Ukrainian refugees in the winter, the Polish president also said.
“I think we should go to the European Community so that there is financial support for our countries,
who bear a particular burden in accepting refugees from Ukraine,” Duda said at the press conference in Berlin.
