Duchess Meghan’s Role in Suits and Buckingham Palace’s Influence: Insider Reveals

Duchess Meghan (42) was an actress for a number of years before she married Prince Harry (38), and is probably best known for her role as Rachel Zane in the popular series “Suits”.

She was in the series for seven seasons, and when she fell in love with the British prince she was still part of the cast.

Recently, the series’ popularity has increased once again with the streaming giant Netflix, and opposite Hollywood Reporter series creator Aaron Korsh can tell that Buckingham Palace was involved – to a degree.

After Meghan found love with the prince, they made some changes.

– Not many changes, but there were a few things we wanted to do but couldn’t do, and it was a bit annoying, he says.

He shares a specific incident with the site. In one scene, Meghan’s character, Rachel Zane, was supposed to use the word “poppycock” (sausage tissue in Norwegian, editor’s note).

– The royal family did not want her to say that word. They didn’t want her to say “poppycock”. I guess they didn’t want people to take out clips of her saying the word “cock” (penis in Norwegian, editor’s note), explains Korsh.

The word was thus changed from “poppycock” to “bullshit”.

Series maker is not entirely sure how Buckingham Palace got hold of the manuscripts, but states that it was never Meghan herself who made the corrections that the royal family wanted.

– It could have been the producer at the time, or her agent. Whoever it was, they enjoyed telling me about the changes as much as I enjoyed hearing about them.

Korsh is not the first to claim that Buckingham Palace set guidelines, or asked for changes in “Suits”. Prince Harry also mentioned it in his book “Save”.

– Got no from Biden

He wrote there about when Meghan had to quit the programme, and believes that those who made the series were frustrated when she gave up.

“The reason is that they were often consulted by Buckingham Palace and asked to change lines, or make changes to the plot and what her character would do,” he wrote in the book.
