Wild Youth, a Dublin band, has been chosen to represent Ireland at this year’s Eurovision competition. The band was selected following a live contest on The Late Late Show earlier this year. Creative director and choreographer Ian Banham was brought on to work with the band before the competition. However, Banham has been criticized for comments made on his Twitter account. The band issued a statement saying they stand for unity and kindness and have cut ties with Banham. RTÉ also stated that Banham is no longer a member of Ireland’s Eurovision 2023 team. The band will perform at the Eurovision Song Contest in May, and their entry, We Are One, was written with Grammy-nominated songwriter Jörgen Elofsson.
