Dübendorf: The Sonnental intersection is being upgraded

The road surface in the area of the Sonnental intersection in Dübendorf has several cracks and seals and is moved. The connector and top course are replaced and a low noise top cover is installed. As part of the upgrade of the intersection, the bus stops “Zürichstrasse Ost”, “Gockhauserstrasse” and “Zürichstrasse West” will be partially modified and made barrier-free so that wheelchair users, elderly people and pedestrians and people with strollers or rolling suitcases. they can board the buses independently and effortlessly. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will get a better traffic route. The cantonal civil engineering office is coordinating the renovation with plant line work from Glattwerk AG and with the Dübendorf Water Supply Cooperation.

If legal action is not taken, the cantonal civil engineering office plans to start construction in the spring of 2025. The work is expected to be completed by the end of August 2025. During the construction period, a traffic concept was developed in close cooperation with the city of Dübendorf, with which the performance of the busy intersection can be maintained. Accompanying measures are designed for this purpose, such as temporary traffic lights and the prohibition of left turns at the Sonnental intersection. Local diversion routes will be established and identified.
