The Dar Al Ber Association in Dubai and Al Jalila Foundation sponsored the assistance of the Syrian youth (Hussam) with the costs of a pancreas transplant at Cleveland Hospital in Abu Dhabi, at an amount of 431 thousand dirhams.
The association paid 331 thousand dirhams, while the Foundation paid 100 thousand dirhams.
And “Emirates Today” published on the eighth of last March the story of (Hussam’s) suffering because of his inability to cover the expenses of the surgery he needs in light of the poor financial and health conditions he is going through.
The patient expressed his happiness and deep thanks to the donors, appreciating their noble stand with him and helping him to perform the pancreas transplant he needed, indicating that the donation is not strange for state institutions and its people.
He added that he would undergo the operation in the coming days.
And the Syrian youth (Hussam), who is 20 years old, suffered from pancreatic cancer two years ago, and it was removed.
According to Cleveland Hospital, he needs a pancreas transplant, and the cost of the operation is 431 thousand dirhams.
The patient appealed to the white hands to help him secure the costs of the operation he needs, given the circumstances he is going through.
Hussam told Emirates Today: “I did not feel as happy as the joy of receiving a call from the newspaper’s (hotline) staff to inform me that the Dar Al Ber Society and the Al Jalila Foundation have covered my treatment expenses for pancreas transplantation at Cleveland Abu Dhabi Hospital.”
He added: «Two years ago I felt abdominal pain, and I was then in Syria and entered a hospital in Damascus, and I was examined by doctors and underwent the necessary tests and found that I was suffering from severe inflammation of the pancreas, and after that I was subjected to careful examinations and it turned out that I was suffering from pancreatic cancer, and they requested a procedure. Operation to remove the tumor.
He continued: «I entered the surgical operating room, and the pancreas, spleen, gallbladder, part of the colon, and lymph nodes were removed, and I stayed in the hospital for a month and a half under medical care, and the disease disappeared, and upon my return to the land of the state, I was reviewing in Al Qasimi Hospital, and after the doctor examined me, it became clear that I was infected. I have type 1 diabetes and it negatively affected my kidneys, so I was transferred to Cleveland Hospital.”
He explained, “The attending physician stressed the need for a pancreas transplant to save my life, pointing to my urgent and urgent need for it in light of my deteriorating health condition.”
He said, “The cost of the operation is 431 thousand dirhams, and this is an amount that exceeds my modest financial capabilities.”
He explained, “I used to work in a private agency with a very modest salary, and two months ago I stopped working because of my health condition. I have no source of income except the aid I get from friends,” noting that “the amount is very large and difficult to manage.”
He said, “I thank God for harnessing the people who sought treatment.”
