Dubai – Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, announced Dubai’s urban planning plan 2040 with the aim of increasing investments and sustainable development.
Urban planning projects should be implemented with the cooperation of various departments to ensure public safety. Efficiency in project formulation and implementation will be ensured. The scheme will be implemented by ensuring justice, equity, transparency and accountability. Nature conservation, biodiversity conservation and safe use of natural resources are also important in urban planning.
Environmental impact study and environmental review will be conducted. A Supreme Committee will be constituted for city planning with representatives from various departments. The Supreme Committee will decide on plans, frameworks, objectives and strategies. Dubai Municipality is responsible for implementing urban planning.
The municipality was empowered to create new free zones and development zones if necessary. Any construction work will be carried out on the basis of permit.
