Younis Al Nasser, Assistant Director General, Smart Dubai, said that the process of fully digitizing government services is fast approaching.
So far 82.82% of digitization has been completed. This saved 269.8 million sheets of paper. Digitization has saved over Rs 22,500 crore and 12.1 million hours. 32388 trees could be saved without being cut down. Large corporations reduced paper consumption by 83.86% by December last year. This saved 232.07 million sheets of paper.
SMOs reduced paper usage by 76.23%, saving 10.64 million sheets and small firms reduced paper consumption by 77.3% to 27.17 million sheets. Diva (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority), Dubai Municipality, Dubai Sports Council and Dubai Statistics Center have been fully digitized and secured 100% digital stamp.
“Digitalization plays a key role in making Dubai a smarter and happier city,” he said. On December 12, it was revealed that the countdown has begun for the complete digitalisation of all government institutions and the implementation of a completely paperless system.
