Dubai Sports Council celebrates International Women’s Day

The Dubai Sports Council celebrated International Women’s Day yesterday through a special forum it organized for its female members and a number of senior citizens, at its headquarters in the Dubai Design District, in cooperation with the Ministry of Community Development and Thukher Social Club of the Community Development Authority.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, Saeed Hareb, and the Assistant Secretary General, Nasser Aman Al Rahma.

Saeed Hareb praised the role of women in supporting the man’s journey, in addition to playing their professional and life roles to the fullest.

He said: “We meet today in a meeting that is renewed every year and carries many meanings, human values ​​and noble feelings for women and all their roles in life. Women are now no longer half of society, but have become all of society, as they are the source of happiness and family warmth.”

He added: «Our wise leadership always emphasizes and works to empower women in all Emirati institutions, and Emirati women are now occupying important leadership positions in most sectors of life, and we, in the Dubai Sports Council, are proud of the women cadres who are with us, who represent a great addition to the work of the Council, as they are achieving success They are great at work and provide a model for working women, and a model for success in itself, and their success is an affirmation of the great role that women play for work and for society as a whole, and we wish success to all members of the council, and to all women ».

During the forum, the most important achievements of women in sports and their success in combining sports work with community work were reviewed. It was also announced the launch of a set of programs, workshops, activities and sporting events for senior citizens, which will be organized during the coming period in coordination with private clubs, most notably the Dubai Ladies Club. It will allocate free entry for senior citizens on the International Day of Happiness, which falls on the 20th of every month throughout the year 2023. It also launched a special membership card for senior citizens so that they can benefit from the club’s facilities throughout the year. At the end of the forum, a walking march was organized on the track of the Dubai Sports Council. .

The Dubai Sports Council annually organizes many sports events for women throughout the year, including the Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Games and the Dubai Women’s Marathon, and many other events and initiatives dedicated to women and benefiting women of all ages and nationalities.
