Dubai Municipality’s Proactive Plan for Dealing with Rainfall Emergencies

Dubai, October 27 / WAM / Dubai Municipality has confirmed its full readiness to deal with emergency situations during rainfall within a proactive plan that includes an integrated system of procedures and rapid and immediate response mechanisms to proactively deal with emergency situations and reports when they occur.
The municipality announced its immediate response to 279 reports it received during the rainy season through field emergency teams consisting of 484 specialized engineers and technicians and 1,150 auxiliary workers.
The municipality indicated the readiness of its emergency teams to respond quickly and address reports resulting from weather fluctuations and rainfall in all regions of the Emirate of Dubai to ensure public safety. This is according to a proactive action plan and a 24-hour program to enhance its strategic focus in the integrated management of the sewage and rain drainage network system, which constitutes a major part of the advanced infrastructure of the Emirate of Dubai, making it one of the ideal destinations for living and working in the world, as surface water and rain drainage networks extend throughout Dubai. For more than 4 million linear meters, it is connected to more than 72,000 rainwater drains and 35,000 inspection rooms, all of which meet in 59 lifting and pumping stations to deliver this water to water bodies through 38 regular outlets.
The emergency teams for field dealing with rainfall allocated by the municipality, in addition to its human resources, include 15 equipment for cleaning and blocking lines, 7 trucks with a crane, and 49 tanks for transporting water, 87 portable pumps, 74 portable pumps, 63 transport vehicles of various types, more than 60 pick-ups, and mechanisms for pumping and treating pools. And removing sand and various types of waste and 31 cars. While 20 water pumps are spread in the Deira and Bur Dubai regions.

The municipality has placed all its teams and mechanisms in full readiness in preparation for dealing with emergency situations during rainfall in various parts of the emirate. This comes within its comprehensive, proactive annual plan to confront rainy season emergencies, which includes a set of measures in accordance with a rapid and immediate response mechanism to emergency reports received from customers in the emirate, supported by an infrastructure that is considered one of the most advanced, efficient and sustainable in the world for draining rainwater and surface water.
The municipality pointed out that community members can submit reports regarding rainwater accumulation and gatherings by using the Dubai 24/7 application or calling 800900.
She also advised avoiding connecting rainwater drainage pipes in homes to the sewage network as it causes a burden on the network.
