Dubai Municipality Concludes 2023 Summer Environmental Education Program with Fun and Sustainable Activities

DUBAI, 4th August, 2020 (WAM) — Today, Dubai Municipality concluded the summer environmental education program for the year 2023, under the slogan “A Fun and Sustainable Summer,” with the participation of 45 students of the municipality’s employees, aged between 8 and 11 years.
The program provided an opportunity for students to take advantage of free time during the summer vacation through various theoretical and practical activities related to the environmental and scientific fields, with the aim of promoting the concepts of proactive protection of the environment and preserving the sustainability of its natural resources.
Aisha Al Murr Al Muhairi, Acting Director of the Environmental Sustainability Department at Dubai Municipality, confirmed the municipality’s constant endeavor to spread environmental awareness among the various segments of society, by organizing and preparing educational programs and activities that focus on promoting awareness concepts on environmental issues and sustainability, and developing environmental skills and values ​​that help regulate individual behavior. Especially among students, to achieve a healthy and sound environment, and the municipality contributes to preparing a generation that is aware of environmental issues and challenges and has the skill of making decisions that enable the exploitation of resources in a correct manner that preserves the environment.
Aisha Al Muhairi said that the summer environmental education program included many theoretical activities by presenting lectures and environmental educational workshops that carried an interesting educational template, as well as practical and applied activities through visits and field trips to environmental sites in Dubai and live and practical experiences around them. Environmental personality, creative thinking, learning about the local environment and how to employ technology to ensure the sustainability and preservation of natural resources.
The axes targeted by the program included organizing a visit to the Marmoum Desert Reserve and the Wasit Wetland Reserve in the Emirate of Sharjah to raise awareness of the importance of natural reserves and preserving their resources, in addition to visiting the Fish Hospital and Aquarium at the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai and attending a detailed workshop on sea turtles in order to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the creatures. living in the environment.
The municipality also organized a visit to the Saruq Al-Hadid and Future Museums and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Solar Energy Complex, aimed at identifying the local environmental heritage and how to employ technology to sustain environmental resources for the future, as well as a visit to the Al Rawabi Factory, the Modern Food Factory and nurseries in the Warsan area in Dubai to promote the concept of positive environmental practices. In the field of local industries, in addition to recreational visits to the rainy room in Sharjah and the dolphin show in the Creek Park in Dubai.
