Abdulmalik told «Emirates Today» after the ceremony of his team officially crowning the league title for the eighth time in its history, on Saturday night, after their victory over Ajman (1-0) in the final 26th round of the league, that «Shabab Al-Ahly focused to a large extent on not spending large sums during the season. The current team, and the least spent team is among the first 4 or 5 clubs in the ranking list.

Shabab Al-Ahly had won the title in the penultimate 25th round after a thrilling victory over Bani Yas 2-1, while the league concluded with 57 points, three points behind Al-Ain, which finished in second place, then Al-Wehda 52 points, Al-Wasl 47, Al-Jazira 46, Ajman 44, and Sharjah 43.

Abdulmalik also revealed that: «A number of prominent players were dismissed due to not reducing their salaries, after negotiations were held with them regarding a reduction in the salary ceiling because we are convinced that the club has competencies, technical elements and young players capable of compensating for the departure of any player, while negotiations are with players whose contracts have expired. It was clear that we will not deviate from the salary ceiling that we set.

And about dispensing with senior players such as Omar Abdel-Rahman and Majid Hassan before the start of the season and during the winter transfer period, more than a player such as Hamdan Al-Kamali and Abdulaziz Sanqour, he said: “We respect them and appreciate what they gave to the club, but Al-Ahly youth does not stand on one or two players, as we have ammunition from the players.” From the reserve team, the first team will suffice for the next 10 years.

He added, “The under-21 team has been a champion for three consecutive years, and the academy teams have achieved 11 championships in the junior stages, and no club has achieved this achievement, which is a record.”
