As part of its efforts to support the UAE’s hosting of the twenty-eighth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in Expo City Dubai, DEWA organized a “Strategy Week” for its employees with the aim of spreading and raising awareness about its vision, mission and related objectives. Sustainability, clean energy and environmental preservation, in order to help employees better understand the authority’s directions and goals and keep pace with global trends that are in line with government plans and strategies seeking to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, stressed the Authority’s keenness for employees to be constantly informed of its projects and initiatives that aim to achieve its vision as a leading, sustainable and innovative global institution committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
Al Tayer added: “It is important for employees to be fully aware of the organization’s vision and mission to understand its future directions and how to achieve its goals, in addition to enhancing loyalty and belonging to the organization. At Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, we are keen to involve employees in developing the authority’s strategic plans, which are consistent with government plans and strategies to anticipate the future, innovate its technologies, and employ them to achieve the best results. We are also keen for employees to be sustainability ambassadors who contribute to enhancing awareness of the Authority’s efforts to support the country’s preparations to host the COP28 conference through initiatives that support the transition towards a sustainable green economy and pioneering projects and initiatives to achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and the Carbon Neutrality 2050 Strategy for the Emirate of Dubai to provide 100% of production capacity. energy from clean energy sources by 2050.”
Al Tayer pointed out that DEWA is moving rapidly to reduce its carbon footprint and achieve sustainable carbon neutrality by 2050, as the production capacity of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai has reached 2,627 megawatts, using solar photovoltaic and concentrated solar energy technologies.
Khawla Al Muhairi, Executive Vice President of the Strategy and Government Communications Sector at DEWA, ​​explained that DEWA organized many events during “Strategy Week” to familiarize employees with DEWA’s strategic goals. The events were organized in the Authority’s main building, in the Authority’s sustainable building in Al Quoz, in the Warsan Complex, and in the Authority’s Vocational and Academic Education Complex.
