DUBAI, 30th July, 2020 (WAM) — The number of land transport carnet (TIR) system transactions carried out by Dubai Customs has reached 214 customs transactions, with a total value of 142.2 million dirhams, since the department completed clearance of the first shipment of the TIR carnet system in September 2020, out of keenness to Facilitating the movement of trade to promote economic growth in the UAE.
Dubai Customs supports the Land Transport Carnet (TIR) system, which allows vehicles or containers sealed with customs seals to pass from the country to the final destination countries via land routes without the need for inspection at border crossings. And tourism to the United Arab Emirates in 2014, and the system was activated in the country in 2017, when the Federal Customs Authority became the competent authority to approve certificates of vehicles and containers for the transport of goods under the TIR Carnet.
Dubai Customs also issued Customs Policy No. (52/2021) on the implementation of the TIR Carnet system, which specified the customs centers that undertake the implementation of the system and include all centers affiliated with the Air Cargo Centers Department and the land and sea customs centers departments. It also specified the terms and conditions of the TIR carnet. and procedures for transferring goods under this book.
Dubai Customs is cooperating with a number of entities to implement the Carnet Air system, including the Federal Customs Authority, local customs administrations, local and international transport and freight companies, and the Automobile and Tourism Club of the United Arab Emirates, which is the entity that represents the International Transport Union (IRU) and supervises the implementation of laws and rules. issued in the UAE.
The “Daftar Al Tir” application promotes sustainable growth in Dubai’s foreign trade by shortening the time and reducing the cost in the commercial operations that are carried out through this system, which supports the achievement of the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 by working to increase the total volume of Dubai’s foreign trade in goods and services to 25.6 trillion dirhams. Within ten years, as the facilities provided in the TIR system are integrated with all commercial and customs services and facilities provided by Dubai Customs to customers in order to enhance their ability to increase the returns from their commercial operations, in light of the expansion of the economic partnership between the UAE and many countries of the world, which are considered one of the main trade markets. In global trade, where facilitating the movement of land-borne trade contributes to supporting the competitive advantages that Dubai enjoys as an international and regional center for world trade.
