DUBAI, 13th July, 2018 (WAM) — The Japanese Consulate in Dubai has expressed its appreciation to Dubai Customs and its role in cooperating with international customs agencies and organizations in addressing drug smuggling across borders.
His Excellency Nooru Sekiguchi, Consul General of Japan in Dubai, conveyed, during his visit to the headquarters of Dubai Customs, the Japanese authorities’ thanks to Dubai Customs for their assistance in seizing a transit drug shipment that was coming from an Asian country and its final destination was Japan. It was carrying about 700 kilograms of methamphetamine powder, estimated at Its value is about 310 million dollars, which is the second largest drug seizure in the history of Japan.

For his part, His Excellency Nooru Sekiguchi praised the efforts of Dubai Customs and its role in supporting the growth of mutual trade between the UAE and Japan, stressing the keenness of the Japanese Consulate General to exchange visits and meetings with Dubai Customs, to reach the highest levels of coordination between the two parties and benefit from the advanced services provided by the department to enable Traders and investors in Japan can enhance their business operations with Dubai.
His Excellency appreciated the capabilities of Dubai Customs in confronting drug smuggling crimes across borders, as the Customs Intelligence Department, by monitoring and analyzing data through its targeting operations, helped the customs authorities in Japan seize a shipment of methamphetamine powder.
