DUBAI, 14th June, 2020 (WAM) — His Excellency Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs and CEO of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, affirmed that the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the UAE and the friendly Republic of Turkey leads to a new era of economic and trade recovery, and will push for greater flexibility. In supply chains, given the pivotal and important role played by the UAE and Turkey in the international trade movement.
His Excellency stressed, during a meeting organized by Dubai Customs with a Turkish economic and diplomatic delegation headed by HE Anwar Shelan, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey to the UAE, that Dubai Customs supports the economic partnership agreements by providing trade facilities, services and world-class customs systems.
The delegation included the Turkish Business Council and a number of Turkish companies in Dubai, and was attended by a number of executive directors and department heads from Dubai Customs.
The meeting comes as part of a series of intensive meetings held by Dubai Customs with trade partners, with the aim of increasing Dubai’s foreign trade in accordance with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him.”
His Excellency the Director General of Dubai Customs praised the efforts of the diplomatic corps and the Turkish Businessmen Council and their keenness to enhance cooperation and coordination with Dubai Customs, stressing that the “Ettabat” initiative launched by the department to raise the level of economic and commercial cooperation with foreign diplomatic corps and business councils aims to improve relations with partners. 72 meetings were held within the initiative since its inception in 2012.
He stressed the keenness to maximize trade exchange with brotherly and friendly countries and work to provide pioneering customs features and projects such as the cross-border e-commerce platform.
He called on the Turkish companies operating in the UAE to join the approved economic operator program, which is a federal program at the state level, which works to link the UAE commercially and customs with the countries of the world, to benefit from its multiple advantages.
For his part, His Excellency Anwar Shilan stressed that the comprehensive economic partnership agreement, which includes cooperation in many strategic sectors, will enhance joint trade exchange between Turkey and the UAE, and will also open the way for increasing investments in both countries, as it is expected that the number of Turkish companies operating in the UAE will increase during the coming period. There are currently 620 companies, expressing his great appreciation for the efforts of Dubai Customs and its keenness to provide the best commercial facilities and services, its constant endeavor to develop cooperation and coordination with diplomatic bodies and business councils, and the support it provides to merchants and companies from the Republic of Turkey by enabling them to develop their commercial operations without any hardships.
