Yesterday, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, held the second quarterly meeting of business groups and councils for the year 2023, where it reviewed the economic landscape and growth prospects, and presented its various plans and initiatives to serve the business community and enhance its global competitiveness.
During the meeting, in which the Vice President of the Business Community Interest Support Sector in Dubai Chambers, Maha Al Gergawi, the Chamber discussed the various efforts, various programs and events it organizes to support business groups and councils, the most recent of which is the conclusion of the first session of the Business Group Empowerment Program and the organization of a series of virtual events to enhance their presence. Digital technology, its smart solutions, and its cybersecurity support in the face of increasing challenges.
The meeting witnessed a review of the unemployment insurance system announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, where attendees learned about the system and its mechanisms.
The unemployment insurance system is one of the country’s leading legislations in the field of the labor market at the global level, and aims to provide a social protection umbrella for workers, both citizens and residents, to ensure a decent life for them and their families until an alternative job opportunity becomes available, as well as attracting and retaining the best international talent. During the meeting, the Chamber’s efforts were reviewed in supporting the legislative and legal system in the emirate, and helping business groups and councils to communicate their voice and recommendations to the relevant government agencies, in order to enhance the competitiveness of their economic sectors and fields of work.
EY Law MENA gave an introductory presentation during the meeting about labor law in the country, the challenges facing companies, and the optimal solutions to confront these challenges.
Director General of Dubai Chambers, Mohammed Ali Rashid Lootah, said: “Business groups and councils form an essential part of the business community system, and a pillar in our efforts to create a global business environment in Dubai.”
Lootah stressed the keenness to support business groups and councils and meet their changing needs, due to the importance of partnering with them in order to serve common interests.
