For investigators in the murder of the hip-hop legend, Davis has long been one of the suspects. Indeed, he himself admitted in interviews and in his 2019 memoir “Compton Street Legend” that he was in the Cadillac that was shot in downtown Las Vegas in September 1996. Shakur was only 25 years old at the time of his death.
His murder is considered one of the most mysterious in modern history and many myths have sprouted up around it.
Davis was arrested two months after Las Vegas police searched his wife’s home in nearby Henderson for evidence related to Shakur’s murder on July 17 of this year.

Investigators said they seized, among other things, several computers, a cell phone and hard drive, a magazine with Tupac on the cover, several rounds of ammunition, numerous photographs and a copy of Davis’ memoir, the station noted CBS News.
In the book, Davis described breaking his silence about Shakur’s murder in 2010 during a closed-door meeting with federal and local authorities. At that time, as a 46-year-old, he was facing a life sentence for drugs and he agreed to a deal with the authorities.
“They promised to shred the indictment and stop the grand jury if I helped them,” Davis wrote. He identified himself as one of the last living witnesses to the shooting.
“He got the gun, gave the gun to the shooter and was present in the vehicle when they chased and located both Tupac and Suge,” said Greg Kading, a former Los Angeles police detective who long investigated the Shakur murder, of Davis’ role.
Last survivor
At the same time, the AP agency he said, that Davis is the last person alive among the four people who were in the vehicle from which Shakur and Knight were shot. Others were Davis’ nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, Terrence “Bubble Up” Brown and DeAndre “Freaky” Smith.
That he was sitting in the Cadillac on the fateful night, Davis admitted publicly for the first time in 2018 after he was diagnosed with cancer. In doing so, he indicated that one of the two people sitting in the back seat where the shots came from was his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson.
The shooting happened shortly after an evening fight at the casino involving Anderson, Shakur and others. At the time, Anderson denied any involvement in Shakur’s murder. He himself died two years later in a shooting in Compton, California.
Shakur was hit in a shootout on the Las Vegas Strip on the night of September 7, 1996. The rapper was sitting in a BMW driven by Death Row Records founder Marion “Suge” Knight. As the car waited at a red light, a white Cadillac pulled up next to it and the shooting began. Severely wounded, Shakur died a week later.
Shakur, who died not long after the release of the album “All Eyez on Me”, is considered one of the most commercially successful musicians of all time, with approximately 75 million records sold worldwide. His great rival Biggie Smalls, known as the Notorious BIG, was fatally shot in March 1997. Both rappers were the faces of the irreconcilable rivalry between the East and West Coasts that defined the development of the hip-hop scene in the mid-1990s.
The film will show the last days of Tupac Shakur
