DSV Leoben has big ambitions. The Styrians can hardly be stopped at the moment and want to set the course for a possible return to the Bundesliga at an early stage.
In the regional championship Leoben wore the winter crown and that as climber of the state championship. Should the traditional club continue at this brisk pace, however, some adjustments will have to be made. Now in Leoben we roll up our sleeves.
“The floodlight power, a necessary requirement for the 2nd league, has already been ordered. The work on the necessary pitch width – we are one meter away – is already underway,” explains councilor Mario Bichler to the “Crown JournalBut the Styrian club wants to go further and has a big project in mind.
Space for 10,000 spectators
The conversion plans for the new Kaif Arena have already been completed. Approximately 10,000 spectators will be hosted on the farm in Leoben. In this regard, there has already been a first meeting with Mayor Wallner, the municipality, the architects and the council of the DSV.
«The city will accompany us on this path and a task force will also be set up», says the president and clarifies: «We want to think about it immediately. become more expensive. The stadium has aged since 1997, we reached the limit in some matches”. The prevailing parking situation or the gastronomy are no longer up to date.
“After this season, the conversion should start and everything should be completed by 2024,” says Bichler. A concept was also worked out for the cost bearers: “We submit to the state and federal government, we have sponsors and we also want to bring the large corporations of Leoben to the table. 60, 70 percent of the material costs should come from regional companies at the purchase price. That also makes a lot of sense.”
