DSM buys Glycom for 765 million euros NOW

DSM in Limburg is hiring Glycom for an amount of 765 million euros, the companies announced on Friday.

The Danish company Glycom produces substances that are also found in human breast milk for the food industry. The so-called milk oligosaccharides act as prebiotics for young babies, as a result of which the intestinal flora and the immune system develop.

Glycom’s largest customer is Nestlé. About 150 people work at the company. In 2019 the group achieved a turnover of 74 million euros.

Glycom fits within the DSM portfolio, which makes vitamins and food mixtures for babies and young children. Together with Glycom, DSM wants to develop new nutrients for toddlers, children and adults and possibly also for animals.

The acquisition is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2020.
