DSB Rejects Proposed “Gabriel” Draft Cabinet, Calls for Expert Management and National Coalition Formula

Not to give support to the proposed “Gabriel” draft cabinet. This position was confirmed by the IC of “Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria”, part of “Democratic Bulgaria”. A position stated many times before by the leadership and PG of the PP-DB formation. According to the leadership of the DSB, the solution to the political crisis goes through an expert management formula with a second mandate in this National Assembly, BNT reports.

The DSB’s proposal is to create a national coalition formula for the joint participation of “Democratic Bulgaria” and “We continue the change” in the local elections in the fall of 2023.

Here is the full text of the resolution of the DSB Executive Board:

1. Confirms the position of the management and PG of PP-DB not to support the project cabinet of Mrs. Maria Gabriel. Management with the mandate of GERB cannot provide a solution to the institutional crisis, for which the 12-year rule of Boyko Borisov bears the main responsibility.
2. Supports the position that the immediate solution to the political crisis goes through an expert management formula with the second term in the 49 National Assembly, ensuring a parliamentary majority for justice reform, a process of restoring the rule of law, accepting Bulgaria into the Eurozone and the Schengen area.
3. Considers that a radical, radical change in Bulgarian politics will not happen quickly, easily or revolutionary. The restoration of statehood, constitutional order and the rule of law require a long-term and consistent political effort and the achievement of public consent to heal the judiciary, the media environment, independent regulators and establish a true, free, market and fair economy.
4. This effort requires preserving and continuing the consolidation of the democratic reform space in the face of the PP-DB coalition for the upcoming local and European elections, and possible new early parliamentary elections. For this reason, the DSB EC proposes the creation of a national coalition formula for general participation in the local elections in the fall of 2023.
5. PP DSB has had a consistent position on the need for radical judicial reform since its creation. Therefore, we assess what is happening in the Bulgarian prosecutor’s office as unacceptable and scandalous, and we will take all legislative measures to enable it to apply the law equally to everyone.
