Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has warned his ministers to be aware of the dry season that will occur in the next few months.
The warning was delivered by Jokowi while giving a briefing at the Plenary Cabinet Session which was held at the State Palace, the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta.
“Be careful about the dry season,” said Jokowi, as quoted on Tuesday (10/5/2022).
Jokowi said the dry season could trigger forest and land fires. Jokowi does not want the apparatus to be unprepared to deal with the threat of the dry season which has the potential to cause forest and land fires.
In addition, Jokowi also highlighted nail and mouth disease. Jokowi specifically asked the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo to take a number of anticipatory steps.
“I ask that the Minister of Agriculture, immediately carry out a zoning lockdown, a lockdown in the region, so that livestock transfers from one place to another,” said Jokowi.
“Or the movement of livestock from district to district, especially from province to province, can really be prevented,” he explained.
In addition, Jokowi also instructed the police to participate in guarding the movement of livestock from a number of areas that have been declared mouth and nail diseases.
“Form a task force, so it is clear who will be responsible later,” he said.
