On the upcoming Easter weekend, Druskininkai, famous for its unusual creative ideas, invites everyone to visit the colorful and bright Druskininkai Art Easter Gallery. Six famous Lithuanian artists create twelve impressive egg-shaped sculptures in the style of street art, which will be exhibited in Gydyklų Park near the Musical Fountain until Atvelykis. According to the artist Artur Širin-Ettoja, the 2-meter-high marigolds decorated with fun, bold, bright, even funky style, intricate patterns of lines and colors will symbolize awakening, rebirth and a new beginning.
ART Easter daisy gallery glowing at night
Gabrielis Žvirblis-Gzparrow, a street artist, illustrator, creator of clothes and accessories who keeps coming back, gathered a wide-profile team of artists to demonstrate their creative abilities in an unusual format – to create visuals using the street art technique not on ordinary planes, but on an egg shape that has no beginning or end. to Druskininki to implement unique creative ideas.
“Street art always has elements of rebellion, freedom and, of course, romance,” says Gabriel. – I admire intellectual simplicity, colors and shapes, but everything must still be “funky”, and what thoughts and emotions my works evoke – it’s already everyone’s personal journey on this planet”, reflects Gabrielis, answering the question about the meanings revealed by his decorated daisy patterns.
Kaipėda artist Pijus Čeikauskas-Pidžinas, illustrator, animator, who currently mainly creates various installations in the style of street art, integrated into spaces, compares the street artist to a street bird that leaves traces behind. “I always associate salt pans with active rest and movement in nature, so my egg contains traveling birds,” says Pius, inviting you to definitely visit this gallery. – This unusual project for us, free birds, is a good opportunity to release art into public spaces for the viewer who does not visit art gallery spaces.
Evaldas Bubinas, better known by the nickname Hermandrowning, is a multidisciplinary artist, creative designer who combines fine art and design in his work. Using different techniques, maneuvering through unconventional practices and styles, he assembles a unique puzzle. By inviting us to remember the legend of the lost python egg, by layering layers of colors and shapes on an unusual surface, Hermandrowning creates a variegated story that each viewer will be able to interpret in their own way.
Having painted his Easter daisy with rich warm colors that shine especially at night, Pijus Šematulskis-Duona says that he loves his native land – Dzūkija immensely, so he really wanted to share the bright colors of the patterns, the warmth they spread, the sunlight, the coming spring and the Easter holiday with everyone. – to warm them, make them happy, surprise them, especially at night, when it’s still dark and cold.
Illustrator and muralist Ettoja’s works stand out for their bright colors and geometrized shapes, which, in combination with playful plots, create a sense of living compositions. His work speaks of temporality, temporality, the fragility of the moment. “We’ve been printing eggs since childhood,” says the artist, “so I’m trying to extend these traditions while looking at them from a different angle.” The surface of the sculpture, decorated with motifs of flora and fauna, invites the viewer to listen to nature and its transformation. In nature, everything happens in cycles, something falls, dies to give birth to new life, so my marguerite lines and color patterns symbolize awakening, rebirth and a new beginning.”
Street artist, creator of objects and installations, multiple winner of Lithuanian “graffiti” championships and other street art competitions Edvardas Šeputis-SHEPA accepted the invitation to create a spring festival as an easy challenge. His paintings are dominated by fantastic worlds, eye-catching with bright colors and abundance of details. Effective flashes of colored light, dramatically illuminating the unknown, undiscovered universe, and perhaps without entering the subconscious labyrinths, give the work even more impact.
The new ART Easter gallery will be opened on March 29. in the evening and will be open around the clock. Those who visit it during the day will be able to admire the colorful patterns, ornaments, and unexpected drawings and try to discover their meaning, while the night wanderers will see how the Easter daisies change their appearance in the dark and start to glow secretly with warm, spring fluorescent colors.
Time to celebrate, have fun, be happy and move
“Easter is not only a holiday of awakening nature, but also a family holiday, so we arranged the holiday program in such a way that both young and old can find activities at the resort. We will be very busy during the holiday week. The resort’s spaces will be decorated with impressive-sized, night-lighting marguerites, cheerfully scurrying bunnies, juggling lessons, education and excursions. This time, the most colorful spring celebration will be dedicated to Druskininkai’s 230th birthday, as this year is the anniversary year, so we invite you to celebrate together,” says Druskininkai Mayor Ričardas Malinauskas.
The organizers of the festival encourage residents of Druskin and city guests who had a hearty breakfast on the festive morning to get up from the richly laid tables and go on an Easter journey.
All kinds of games, attractions, and places for beautiful family photo sessions with brightly colored flamingos will be available in Gdyklė Park. There will be cribs for rolling daisies right here. If you don’t bring your own, it’s okay, you’ll find wooden ones printed this time by the famous artists who created the impressive ART Easter gallery. Compete with family members – the one who manages to roll the daisies the farthest will be lucky throughout the year, and the one who collects the most daisies will be cheerful and happy throughout the year.
Don’t miss the juggling lessons, and don’t worry if you’re late – juggler Mantas promises a fabulous program of neon juggling with glowing and luminous juggling tools after dark. We promise – the juggler will surprise even the spectators who have seen everything!
A lot of positive emotions will be brought by the Fun String Park located near the Pramogai Square. The fluffy long-eared bunnies located in colorful houses will be very happy if you play with them, talk to them or even feed them crunchy carrots. A family of extremely cute goats and goats will live with them.
Since the main principle of spring holiday games is movement, Easter joy is simply unimaginable without a carousel park where you can swing up to the sky. The largest autodrome in Lithuania will also operate here.
Well, since we miss active movement in nature, how can we miss the ART Easter orienteering competition? Register the team, get tasks and on Sunday, after getting out of bed, roll the family to the Easter city of Druskininkai. Unforgettable adventures and surprises await!
And here is the second day of Easter – wow, what guests we will receive! Residents of the Magical Forest from Žaliosi Kūdra will settle in the healing park. The extremely cute sweets are wondering how the holidays can be without something sweet? So they come to share sweet smiles and hugs. And in the big tent, there will be a workshop where you can decorate the smiley face.
These days we will invite you to tours of Druskininkai, the opening of a painting exhibition, many creative educations in the “Art Forge”, and during Atvelykis, children can expect a theatrical performance of hand puppets, photo sessions with mirror bunnies and a singing poetry concert.
