SFI District Secretary Thiruvananthapuram Gokul Gopinath and President Jobin Jose were removed. The action was taken after a video of them drunkenly dancing came out. State Secretary MV Govindan intervened but did not take action which was controversial. This video was posted a month ago. SFI leadership and the CPM did not move despite the fact that the organization was embarrassed by social media. Finally, the action came after the CPM approved the amendment document suggesting strict action in such incidents. District secretary of CPM Thiruvananthapuram who met today instructed the SFI leadership to take action against both.

Gokul Gopinath and Jobin Jose will be removed and replaced by the Vice President and Joint Secretary. The new secretary and president will be decided later by SFI. After the video came out and became a controversy, the SFI district faction had joined the presence of CPM State Secretary MV Govindan. At that time, MV Govindan was adamant that the district committee should be dissolved. However, the CPM was delaying action in the shadow of the district leadership.
