Although a driver’s license is not required for their vehicles, police banned two road users at two locations in the Rems-Murr district on Monday. A man was completely drunk in an electric wheelchair.
A cyclist returning from Fellbacher Herbst had a lot of alcohol in his blood on Tuesday night. According to police, the 38-year-old was stopped by a patrol around 1am because he was driving on wavy lines on Bahnhofstrasse. As it turned out, the man had more than two parts per thousand of alcohol in his blood, which is why he was banned from continuing to drive and criminal proceedings were instituted against him for driving while intoxicated.
Absolutely unsuitable for driving a wheelchair user
In Winnenden on Monday, a road user with a vehicle that does not require a driver’s license proved absolutely unfit to drive. The 82-year-old man, who drove his electric wheelchair in Mörikestrasse, fell around 5:30 pm at the intersection with Schillerstrasse. He sustained minor injuries and had to be treated first by the ambulance service and then taken to the hospital. Since he had about 2.5 per thousand of alcohol in his blood, the police prohibited him from continuing to drive for safety. Criminal proceedings were also initiated against him for driving under the influence of alcohol.
