On February 2 in Saint-Jean-de-Védas, a 35-year-old man was intercepted while drunk. Sign even more particular: he was at the wheel of a steamroller.
The facts are more than a week old. On Wednesday February 2 in Saint-Jean-de-Védas (Hérault), at nightfall, the gendarmes of the motorway platoon proceeded to intercept a curious road user. As 20 Minutes reports, a another motorist had reported this individual to the authorities whom he had just encountered. This one took the direction of the roundabout of the A9 and the A709. It is not clear what prompted this report. Was it because the individual was driving a steamroller?
Found drunk driving a steamroller he allegedly stole earlier
It is also possible that the man aroused suspicion because of his pronounced alcoholic state. The gendarmes of Hérault think that this individual, aged 35, could have stolen the steamroller a few minutes before being thus discovered.
The individual did not want to walk due to his condition
While his condition might not have disposed him to immediate explanations, the 30-year-old was able to tell the soldiers why and how. He wouldn’t have had the desire to walk the few kilometers that separated him from his home, because his alcohol consumption no longer made him go straight. He planned to reach the tram station aboard the construction machine. The man would then have boarded a train to find his home and go to bed there. The steamroller has since been seized and returned to his company. It is not known, however, what happened to the thirty-something in a state of intoxication.
