Drunk man crashes into three cars in front of him – source photo from the Munich Fire Department
On October 17, 2024, at around 10 p.m., a drunk 36-year-old from Munich drove his Audi into three cars on Chiemgaustrasse shortly before the junction with Tegernseer Landstrasse and pushed them into each other. There was a 2-year-old child in the back seat of the Audi who suffered serious injuries. The rescue workers took the toddler to a clinic with ongoing resuscitation.
Due to traffic, the three cars had to brake in front of the person who caused the accident or were already stationary. The 36-year-old crashed the Audi into the rear of the Mercedes in front of him without braking. He was in turn pushed against the two cars in front of him.
The two-year-old child in the 36-year-old’s vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries. He had to be taken to hospital by the emergency services under ongoing resuscitation and his life was in danger. The 36-year-old driver is also seriously injured. The six occupants of the other three cars suffered minor injuries.
“As part of the accident investigation, the suspicion was confirmed that the 36-year-old suspected person who caused the accident was under the influence of alcohol. Therefore, a blood sample was taken and his driving license was confiscated,” said police spokesman Ralf Kästle from the Munich Police Headquarters. There is also an allegation of excessive speed. Traffic police. The police estimate the property damage at several tens of thousands of euros.
While the accident was being recorded, the Mittlerer Ring on Chiemgaustrasse was closed for several hours.
